The primary reason we created the ‘Majestic Fragility’ exhibition was to generate public awareness of our marine relatives in the rapidly warming Gulf of Maine, using the powerful medium of Art and Science. With sculpture that represents microbial animals to the colossal whale, and brilliant photographs of Cashes Ledge we aim to illuminate the human animal’s place in what we call ‘nature’ , and how we must bear active responsibility for what has happened to it. The exhibit also champions the efforts of Bigelow Laboratory, Conservation Law Foundation and others to tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis, find solutions, and to collectively invite us to take up our destiny as stewards.
